Tool support requires the appropriate API integration; a supported tool is not automatically active in every chat.
Supported API features and tools
Function calling and structured outputs
Text and image understanding
Web search and file search
Image generation through a tool
Code interpreter and hosted shell
MCP integrations
Before you choose
Streaming is not supported.
No native audio or video support; native output is text.
Fine-tuning is not supported.
Difficult requests may take several minutes. Higher effort does not guarantee correctness.
Choose the reasoning effort
mediumhigh · defaultxhigh
Evaluate high on a small set of difficult tasks first. Try medium when turnaround matters and xhigh only when an extra quality check justifies the latency and token use. Keep a human review step for consequential conclusions.
Unsupported settings: none, minimal, low, max.
Use the Responses API, including Responses requests through the Batch API. Chat Completions is not supported.
For long-running requests, OpenAI recommends background mode to reduce timeout risk.
The documented snapshot is gpt-5.5-pro-2026-04-23. API usage limits depend on your account tier.
Put it to work
Start with a more useful prompt.
Original examples from EZ Ai Assist. Adapt these to your task and the features available in your workspace.
Workflow 01
Audit a high-stakes proposal
Supply the proposal, constraints, and evidence; ask for a review you can act on.
Audit this proposal against the goals and constraints I provide. Identify unsupported claims, conflicting requirements, and failure scenarios that could change the decision. For each finding, cite the source section, state its impact, and suggest the smallest useful validation. Separate evidence from assumptions. End with the three questions we must resolve before approval.
Workflow 02
Reconcile conflicting evidence
Keep disagreements visible instead of forcing a confident summary.
Compare these reports about the same project. Build a table of material disagreements with the claim, each source location, the relevant date, and possible explanations supported by the text. Do not decide which report is correct without evidence. Identify what additional record or test would resolve each disagreement, then write a short provisional briefing with explicit uncertainty.
Workflow 03
Challenge an architecture decision
Ask for alternatives and testable objections within a defined system boundary.
Review this architecture decision record and the attached system constraints. Evaluate the chosen design and two plausible alternatives against reliability, operating cost, reversibility, and implementation effort. Cite supplied facts and label assumptions. Identify the most consequential failure mode for each option. Recommend a bounded experiment and measurable acceptance criteria rather than proposing a wholesale rewrite.

OpenAI API pricing
These are OpenAI API reference prices, not EZ Ai Assist subscription prices.
There is no cached-input discount for GPT-5.5 Pro; a zero-dollar cached rate would be misleading.
OpenAI’s Standard pricing table lists long-context rates above 272,000 input tokens. Use the appropriate column when estimating a request.
This table is Standard processing only. Batch has separate pricing; tool calls may add fees. Regional processing adds 10% where available.
Prices and availability can change. Confirm the selected service tier in OpenAI’s pricing documentation before spending.
Common questions
A few things worth knowing.
When is Pro worth comparing with GPT-5.5?
Try both on tasks where an overlooked constraint would matter. Score the results against an answer key or independent reviewer, and compare total cost and waiting time. A more expensive model is not automatically better for a short, routine request.
Can GPT-5.5 Pro stream its answer?
The model reference lists streaming as unsupported. Plan the integration around a completed response, and use background mode for requests that may take minutes.
Does Pro support structured outputs?
Yes, the API model reference lists structured outputs and function calling. The application still needs to configure the schema or tools and validate the returned values. A well-formed record can still contain incorrect facts.
Is there a prompt-caching discount?
No. OpenAI explicitly states that GPT-5.5 Pro has no cached-input discount. The table therefore shows input and output, without a fabricated cached-input price.
Is this the same as an EZ Ai Assist Pro subscription?
No. GPT-5.5 Pro is a model name; EZ Ai Assist Pro is a subscription plan. Direct OpenAI API prices and features do not establish your app plan’s included models, limits, or tools.
Can it create images or understand audio?
It accepts text and images and produces text natively. Image generation is available as an API tool, not a native image response. Native audio and video are not supported.
How should I prepare a difficult review?
Provide relevant documents, a decision boundary, and a clear success criterion. Request evidence locations and unresolved questions, then verify the most consequential findings yourself. Share only material you are authorized to use.
